Question: Can a program speed up my PC?
“My computer is very slow to start after shut down.
I have had a local service…..clean & removal of files etc. but is still too slow to start.
Could please advise if there is program I can download to solve this problem Thank you”
Good Question.
I will be upfront with you. There is no-quick fix answer to your problem. But there is an answer..
Almost all programs out there that claim to solve this problem will not make any significant difference to the speed of your computer and will probably make it worse (see the post on my website regarding junky pc optimisation software). You will find yourself spending hours downloading and running software, which if you are lucky you might find a program that will improve the speed by 5-7% which will be offset by all the junk-ware that will reduce the speed by up to 50%!.
There is a fairly unique re-installation procedure I do on client’s computers that usually regains speed, though it is a very thorough process and it usually takes around 1.5 – 2 hours.. longer if you have important files and settings that need to be identified and kept. I actually created a checklist which i carry with me to make sure common important files are kept and you are not left “in the lurch”.
I say “usually regains speed” above, because sometimes I have identified other issues that have been causing problems that show up somewhere in the process, like faulty hard disks or overheating. If this is the case I have a car full of spare parts to fix the problem quickly without leaving and coming back.
